Beat the Christmas Rush September 25th

Christmas Card Tally 45
9 Sept
Just four cards from me this month. I did an extra one earlier in the year so this evens up my score the truth is I can’t find the the other fairy topper – I know I bought 5!

I told you we’d be smug as Christmas approaches – don’t want to panic you but …18 fridays
… ho ho ho.

I have been making 5 a month since January and will have at least 50 Christmas cards all ready for the festive season. I will Beat the Christmas Rush. Why not join in our monthly linky? It’s not too late to get a few under your belt and you’ll be glad you did! I’ll publish a new linky each month on the 25th and feature my favourite card from the previous month’s entries …

… Unfortunately I can’t show you here the fabulous cards linked by Susibee as she has a copyright restriction on them but it’s well worth a trip over to her blog to look at some stunning cards!

The small print … please only link new cards. Up to 5 links allowed per person per month. Mention my blog in your post(s).  It’s not necessary, but I’ll be thrilled if you join my blog as a follower. If you miss a month it doesn't matter, come back next month … or the month after.

September Sketch Challenge

hi de hi    sketch

Oh I did not like typing September there – autumn is almost upon us. Sad smileAh well, let’s hope for an Indian summer. I still have a few summer photos to scrap and this one is of my sister, Marilyn, and her family enjoying one of their many camping trips.
So, on with the challenge - just use the sketch as the starting point for your scrapbook page then link me up to your blog, gallery or FB page, via the linky thingy below. Please be sure to mention my challenge in your post or gallery text box and be nice and only enter new projects. I’ll choose my favourite and send the winner one of my crop kits you can see them on the page tab at the top of my blog.

Of last month’s entries, I fell in love with these photos of Anni’s two gorgeous Springers – I couldn't help but choose Anni’s fab page for my winning layout.

Anni – please have a look at the kits on the page tab above and choose one from kits 4-17 for your prize then email your address to sue at suehr dot fsnet dot co dot uk

Beat the Christmas Rush August 25th

Christmas Card Tally 41

8 Aug

Late again! I’ve had it in my head all day that tomorrow was 25th August. Anyway, here are my Christmas cards for this month. I’m rather pleased with these step cards.  There are loads on Pinterest and a video on Deb Valder’s blog here. They look much more complicated than they are to make and they fold flat to fit in an envelope.

So what’s BtCR all about? I have been making 5 a month since January and will have at least 50 Christmas cards all ready for the festive season beating to Beat the Christmas Rush. Why not join in our monthly linky? You’ll be glad you did! I’ll publish a new linky each month on the 25th and feature my favourite card from the previous month’s entries …

8 Aug Viv

I keep seeing examples of zentangles on blogs and, as an habitual doodler, think it’s something I’d like to have a go at. I was very excited to see this fab card on the Wear Crafts blog made my DT member, Viv. Just lovely!

Treat Boxes

Today I have been making little treat boxes for the Littlegreen Croppers later this week.

P1060825

I followed a super tutorial and video by Ginger on her blog Gingersnap Crafts. It is the first time I’ve taken my WRMK envelope punch board out of its box and I am thinking it is going to get a lot of use from now on - these were so quick and easy to make and each one only uses a 6”x6” piece of patterned paper or cardstock, glue and a length of ribbon.

Pop up box card

During this last week it was our 33rd wedding anniversary and I made this pop up box card for Michael.

pop up box anniversary

There are loads of ideas for pop up box cards on Pinterest and the lovely susibee gave us a tutorial at a retreat we were on earlier in the year. I brushed up my memory by following some clear instructions by Split Coast Stampers which you can find here.

CUASMS August Sketch

mojo

This month’s Come Up And See My Sketchings group sketch was found for us at Sketch Support by Alison. Thank you, Alison.

CUASMS August_Sketch

The sketch did exactly what a sketch is designed to do – provide a starting point. Using a sketch helps to get you started and prevents that tedious for me anyway bit of scrapping where you shuffle elements endlessly around the page. For my layout I substituted the three photos with one wide landscape picture. I did toy with the idea of chopping the phot100% boyo into three sections but couldn’t bring myself to cut across little Joseph’s legs. I embellished the page with images cut from the Cricut Boys will be Boys cartridge, more suited to my subject than butterflies. And here’s my finished page, recording four-month-old Joseph on the point of crawling.
