Mind the Scrap | Chinese Whispers

I recently took part in a Facebook group game of Chinese Whispers where we scraplifted a page from someone in the group and sent it on to the next person. To be honest, I couldn’t really see my original page in theBlossom & Grow ones I got in return, but hey ho, it was fun! You can see lots of the entries here. (It is a closed group so click here to join up.)

This is the page I started off my pass with.

FTLoPP Blog Hop | Susan Roberts

image

Hello! This post is part of the National Scrapbook Day Blog Hop hosted by the Facebook Group “For The Love Of Pretty Paper”

First of all – the small print: if you are following the hop you should have arrived here from Ruth’s blog. To be in with a chance of winning the blog hop prize you will need to comment on this post (and on all the blogs in the hop) and when you have completed the hop, return to the Blog Hop thread on “For The Love Of Pretty Paper” and leave a comment to let us know you have been all the way around the hop. Visitors who leave the same (or seen to be the same by the organisers) comment on all the blogs will not be eligible for the prize. The closing date for Blog Hop entries is Monday 8th May at 10pm. Only UK addresses are eligible for the prize due to postage costs. Good Luck!
After your visit here please hop on to UK Scrap Addicts and if you lose your way or you want to start at the beginning of the hop you can find the complete list on the Facebook page here or on Fiona’s Blog.

snipThe theme for the Blog Hop is                                    ‘A Favourite Technique’ ...

I have chosen cutting into photographs.

I love to do this with photos that are important as a memory but not particularly interesting as a photo.

image

The photo I’ve used here has a central element, the bit with the birds lined up, and the rest is important context but boring … so I’ve cut it to isolate the ‘good’ section and to make the rest more pleasing to the eye.

image

I want to cut my photo into a 9-section grid with the focal point, the birds, in the centre. I start by cutting either side of the birds.

image

Next I cut each of the 3 strips into 3, making uneven sections.

image

At this point it is a good idea to carefully turn over the photo pieces and number them so that piecing them together later isn’t too much of a jigsaw.

image

I reassembled the photo onto the matting cardstock with even(ish) spaces between the pieces, allowing the matting to show through.

image

Next I trimmed round the photo and stuck the whole piece to the background cardstock, then completed the page as normal

The Line Up

That’s it from me.

Happy NSD.
