WOYWW 187

Good morning! Is it really Wednesday? I can’t keep track of the days at the moment. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and managed to find time for crafting and also to get your feet up.

So it’s New Year and time for resolutions. I’m not going for the usual lose weight which I always break about the third week, so that’s out the window this year. Instead I am resolving to spend less time with my nose in the laptop and more in a book (well my Kindle) and also to be less wasteful in my crafting. This stems from someone once asking me if I was a thrifty scrapper and my crafting friends rolling about laughing before I could answer. So, I’ve made a start. I have gone through the tatty mountain of scraps I keep and never use and cut them neatly into 6”x6” squares (I have to confess I started this some time ago) so now they are useful for matting photos, punching out shapes and for card making. I have also cut some small pieces for journalling and all the leftovers have gone into the recycling bin. I will keep the box handily placed on my work desk so I am encouraged to use them.02.01.13

Also on my desk are two Tando printers’ trays I’ve at last turned into cards – I can’t show you them in detail yet but will do so soon.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit to my desk – I’m off to Julia’s What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday to hop round some more desks. See you there?

Sue x

Printers trays turned into cards? Sounds intriguing:) The cutting of scraps is a great idea and one I have tried but then forgot about. However, being less wasteful is a great idea.

Good for you with the scraps, it is always a good start, this I have done myself before and it works wonders. As for the printer tray cards, you have me interested.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you!
I've been having a mad sort out session too, only with cupboards and my fabric stash rather than paper! I love clearing out, it's very therapeutic! Good for you for having a major turn out as well!!
Hugs, LLJ 31 xx

Look,at you, getting organized! Love the boxful of paper you've got. Tando printer's trays, oh I would so die for those. Nothing like them here in the States. Thanks for the visit. New Year's greetings! Nan 78

Like the idea of cutting the scraps down to size, it makes it so much easier to find a use for them. Afraid I'm very wasteful when it comes to paper, must throw away far more than I ever use.
I don't make NY resolutions any more but I do try to eat more healthily in Jan and Feb and if I lose weight it comes as a lovely surprise.

Hope 2013 is a happy and healthy one for you and yours.

Smiley pot looks most pleased at your efforts. It's a great idea to cut the papers down to 6x6. We may have to copy that idea.

Thanks for visiting the bears today.

As I read I am looking at a monstrous pile of offcuts and scraps that need sorting into their file folders so I can find them when I need them without having to paw thru a 2 foot high stack o'mess. Looking forward to seeing those cards finished.... so nosy!

:)

Happy New Year!

You have just given me an idea for one of my Cat Food boxes to be recycled. Thanks. Just got to remember it for a month - may write up on the calendar.
If I was to make resolutions I would be doing the same two as you - not as much time on the computer and more time reading I have been doing the latter but not enough of it. Also need less tv in my case.
I take it the turquoise and pink are the Tando trays - they look lovely.
Happy New Year - Hugs, Neet xx 12

That's a brilliant idea for your scrap paper!! I am going to start that tonight - I have a magazine storage box of scraps that keeps falling off the desk and this would solve the problems and make me use them up!! Thanks for that!!
Happy New Year and Happy WOYWW

Girl after my own heart recycling printers trays. Can't wait to see the details. I need to do something with my scraps cause my bins have started creaking they are so full. Maybe a trip to recycling is called for but they have some pretty bits there. I need to decide what to keep and what to trash! Hope you have a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Look forward to your posts in 2013! Vickie #17

Well done you with the scraps...mine are in a horrible mess in two boxes; one full of plain scraps, the other with patterned, and they get rummaged through on a regular basis, but cutting them into more useful shapes would probably help! Thank you for sharing. Have a very Happy New Year. Caro #57

Good for you Sue, I think the key to successfully using scraps is keeping them tidy and knowing yourself well enough to know how small (or large) a piece has to be before you'll re use it. I'd say you're off to a flying start!

Being a bit more frugal is a good resolution to have, I think we'd all be amazed if we just took a good look at all the stuff we have!! That's not to say that I don't have a wish list as long as my arm, lol!! I keep my paper and card scraps in a small, plastic set of three drawers. It's very handy and I always look in there first now for bits and pieces. Anything too small gets punched (flowers, leaves, snowflakes etc) and stored in a little tin on my desk. Sorry I didn't get back to you before Xmas about the Ribbon holders, but they're not available to ship from the UK. My BIL has said he'd happily do it but it's going to cost an arm and a leg to ship him a big box!! We hope to come back to the UK for a visit in the Spring so we're planning on bringing a suitcase full of them for him to send out!!

I am a big scrap keeper but I do not stick to one size. I can't bear to through out anything. But now and again I can let a piece or two slide. I like your storage idea for yours.
