WOYWW 191

Whoop whoop it’s Wednesday and time to share my desk with all the lovely snoopers over on Julia’s blog. Before I disclose the disaster area that is my desk a shameless plug for our new challenge over at CCW where we are making Christmas cards … yes we really are. I so hope you’ll join us. You can see my cards on this post.

Anyway you’re here to see my desk … and I have been VERY busy. I made some Disney Princess bunting for my sister’s bridal shop and ended up making 6 sets of the darned things … no more I plead!

30.01.13

I must apologise for not hopping round more desks last week – very rude when so many people visited mine. I have been so busy, but I will make time this week, I promise.

Hop over to What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday to see some more interesting craft rooms. You'll be glad you did.

Make it Monday #125

It’s Monday so time to join in the linky party at Make it Monday.

olneyEach year I go on a great week-long scrapping retreat with my UKS teamies to Olney, famous for its Pancake Race. We are usually there around Pancake Day and here I am showing off my skills with the frying pan. We’ll be there in a few weeks from now – I’d better get practising!

As always there are some super projects to see at MiM and I have chosen this card by Tracey as my favourite of the DT examples … that lion image will be perfect for a card for my great nephew, Leo. :o)

Beat the Christmas Rush 25th January

My Christmas card tally to date … 2-a 5
The new link up is launched over at Creative Craft World. Our aim is to be well ahead with Christmas card making when December arrives. Check out the launch post here.

I’m going to do my best to make the five cards each month and here are my offerings for January.

5 cards

Each month the design team will be featuring their favourite card from the previous month’s linkies. This is our first month, of course, so I’ve looked through my Pinterest pins and picked this card to share with you made by Sarah Shewell on her blog Sarah’s Inky Fingers.

Printers’ Trays

I posted a couple of Tando printers’ trays yesterday and here’s another I made as a birthday card. I’ve found that silver peel offs yeuch! colour nicely with a Sharpie pen and look good in black. The alphas I used for the names were chipboard which I coloured with Black Soot Distress Ink then covered with Glossy Accents. The paper is SU Polka Dot Parade again and I also used Washi tape.

Make it Monday #124

I haven’t been to the MiM linky party for a few weeks as I’ve been busy with Design Team projects or my cushions so it’s nice to be back with something to share. This last week or so was one for a number of birthdays and I made cards using Tando printer’s trays. The paper is Stampin’ Up Polka Dot Parade which comes in fab colours. I also used Washi tape which made the covering of the ‘window frames’ easy and some of Susibee’s lovely felt buttons.

WOYWW 189

Hello on this bright and frosty morning – just how I like the winter to be even though the sun is showing up my grubby windows!

So it’s Wednesday and time to reveal my workdesk to the world. I have two photos for you … the first to show off my sparkling new sewing machine got for me by my lovely mum at Lidl for a bargain £69.99. Beside it you can just see my first attempt at machining as I have finished Sophia’s cushion ready to post to her. Thank you for all your good wishes last week for her spottiness – she is well and back at school.

16.01.1316.01.13 2The second photo is my desk as it was before the sewing machine took root. I pinned a tutorial for making these cute little baskets and had a go at making one – easy to do and a good use of my 6x6 scraps box. I will make them for Easter and fill with little eggs. You can also see my ATG gun waiting to be sorted with the pot of Vaseline hovering behind it. THE ATG gun squeaks like a cage of budgies which is fine for home use but a bit too attention seeking at crops. LOL If anyone knows where the tutorial is please leave me a link – I can’t find it now!

OK, time to do some desk hopping at Julia’s What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday. See you there.

ETA after much searching of Google I have found the squeaky ATG remedy … here.

Littlegreen Crop Circle – January Crop

ollie Just a select few of us braved the rain and hail yesterday and we had a lovely day’s cropping. First of all, I should introduce you to Ollie Beak – a fabulous gift from my talented friend, Jan, who made him for me. Isn’t he great?

And ta daa … I actually managed three pages … speed scrapping or what! Well it is for me, the world’s slowest scrapper.

The first is for the UK Scrappers’ monthly challenge using the sketchI like to ride my bicycle. The photo was taken some while ago when Sophia first learned to ride without the stabilisers. She had a new bike this Christmas.

This page is for the UKS weekly challenge where Siân asked us to

  1. use only one photo (preferably a large one)
  2. make the most of your scraps
  3. use a meaningful quoteSweetheart

Beth is gorgeous, isn’t she? Those eyes and that knowing look!

And the third page I did? Well, I can’t share as it’s the February scrap map for CCW.

Let’s Reflect January

I’m joining in the The View Challenge at Lucky Snapping hosted by my dear friend, Jen. You can find the full details here. While reading Jen’s post I was sidetracked into looking at Anne’s blog and read what she was saying about serendipity …

ser·en·dip·i·ty (n. pl. ser·en·dip·i·ties)

the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident; the fact or occurrence of such discoveries; an instance of making such a discovery

I mulled over Jen’s challenge for a while and put it to the side of my mind in the hope of a serendipitous moment presenting itself. Later in the blog week, Jen suggests we look at the view from our kitchen window – and there it was – a lovely view I can see every day of the week, take for granted and rarely look at properly. It’s been a mild winter to date and everything looks lush and green. Michael has pruned the vines right back and they will start to bud (probably) in April. You can see the bare vine poles awaiting the new growth. The scene from the window will change dramatically through the year, and I will be there, every 2nd of the month, to record those changes. So, here is January from my kitchen window, using a sketch I made from Jen’s layout.

WOYWW 188

Good morning and welcome to my workdesk. The paper crafting has been pushed to one side for a while to make way for some sewing I have been doing. I am making monogrammed cushion covers.

09.01.13I’ve made three as family gifts and this one is for Sophia who is covered in chicken pox spots at the moment and totally fed up at not being able to go back to school. Bless her. I’m thinking of selling the cushion covers as kits on Etsy. What do you think?

Please pop over to What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday and have a peak at some more workdesks – it’s great fun!

CCW Scrap Map Challenge

Jan sketch
When I designed this month’s scrap map for Creative Craft World I imagined it would be perfect for New Year photos, but of course, we on the DT had to do the page a bit too early for that, so, how could I resist another delicious picture of Leo?

Sue
I’ve written the first two verses of Twinkle, twinkle little star around the edge to frame my page. Thank you to my lovely friend Laura for the felt splodges.

So, hop over to the CCW blog and have a go at the challenge – there are prizes! :o)

WOYWW 187

Good morning! Is it really Wednesday? I can’t keep track of the days at the moment. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and managed to find time for crafting and also to get your feet up.

So it’s New Year and time for resolutions. I’m not going for the usual lose weight which I always break about the third week, so that’s out the window this year. Instead I am resolving to spend less time with my nose in the laptop and more in a book (well my Kindle) and also to be less wasteful in my crafting. This stems from someone once asking me if I was a thrifty scrapper and my crafting friends rolling about laughing before I could answer. So, I’ve made a start. I have gone through the tatty mountain of scraps I keep and never use and cut them neatly into 6”x6” squares (I have to confess I started this some time ago) so now they are useful for matting photos, punching out shapes and for card making. I have also cut some small pieces for journalling and all the leftovers have gone into the recycling bin. I will keep the box handily placed on my work desk so I am encouraged to use them.02.01.13

Also on my desk are two Tando printers’ trays I’ve at last turned into cards – I can’t show you them in detail yet but will do so soon.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit to my desk – I’m off to Julia’s What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday to hop round some more desks. See you there?
