Marilyn’s birthday treat

Today my sister and I went to the lovely Petworth House to take part in a Christmas Wreath making workshop – it was excellent. Taught by the aptly named florist Matthew Spriggs we each have a fab wreath to hang on the front door. We made the wreaths from scratch, starting with a metal ring and some moss finishing with as much decoration as we wanted. There was so much to choose from, dried lemons and limes, slices of dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, fir cones, some mushroomy things I can’t remember the name of, Christmas baubles, beautiful ribbons ...

Anyway here are a few photos so you can see what we did.

CCW Christmas Countdown Day 29

The penultimate day of our Christmas Countdown – just where has November gone? Are you all ready for Christmas? Not me that’s for sure! Anyway, my little gift boxes, just a bit less than 3” cubes and each made from one sheet of A4 card, will help things along a bit.

group of boxes
We’ll be using these for table gifts at Christmas Day lunch. I would normally co-ordinate them with our table theme but I’ve done a variety of designs to give you some ideas. Click the page tab at the top of the blog for details on how to make them.

ETA While you’re there leave a comment on my reindeer noses and/or tree decs pages to be in with a chance of winning my little all-you-need kits.

WOYWW 182

Good morning and welcome to my work desk in all its glory! I’m up to my neck in Christmas card making at the moment. This is the first year I’ve made them all by hand and I’ve really enjoyed it. I always protested I wasn’t a card maker; my experience of home made cards was the peel offs and decoupage type, not at all my cup of tea. Then my dear friend Susi introduced me to her beautiful cards … I will never make cards like Susi but at least I enjoy trying! The cards on my desk are copied from a fab card I found via Pinterest on Clean and Simple Cards.

Last week I was really bad at visiting other workdesks – time just overtook me. This week I’ll be a good WOYWWer and have a snoop at loads. :o) Join me at What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday. :o)

Make it Monday #117

cards Oh dear I’ve been at the coffee stirrers again! This time to make washing lines for some Christmas cards I made at the Cre8tive crop this weekend. I coloured the stirrers with TH Distress stains – these are newly discovered by me and are so good for covering chipboard and wood. The clothes on the line are cut with the Cricut Paperdolls Dress Up cartridge.

I would like to enter this for the linky party at MiM today.

PS My favourite DT project this week is a gorgeous gift tag made by LisaS.

CCW Christmas Countdown Day 21

At last I can share my pièce de résistance ! I’ve been dying to show you my Tando Advent kit and here it is! Well a close up, any way. The full photo and instructions for making it are on the page tab at the top of my blog. I can tell you I LOVED doing this. I’m waiting for Lou to get more in stock (they sell as soon as they hit the shelves) and then I’ll make another one as a birthday countdown for Sophia. This kit is not just for Christmas! LOL

I hope you like it as much as I do.

PS I must say thank you to Bev of Bee Crafty who was so good at answering my daft questions about how she put her wreath together.

pal·in·drome  ˈpalinˌdrōm/  noun:

A word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backward as forward, e.g., madam or nurses run or a man, a plan, Panama!.

______________________________________

Good morning and welcome to a palindromic Wednesday (21.11.12!) I’m fond of palindromes – my niece Anna could say, ‘I’m a palindrome’ when she was very tiny. :o)

Anyway, I’m wittering – you’re here to see my desk which is ‘beginning to look a lot like Christmas’.

21.11.12On the left are the cards I did with my mum and sister yesterday (see previous post)  and on the right are some gift boxes I’ve been making for our ‘table presents’ on Christmas Day. Oh and my Washi tape collection (centre) has grown to needing a second jailer’s ring!

Right I’m off to hop round some more workdesks on What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday. Thanks for visiting mine.

Card School

After all these years of me being afflicted with this paper addiction my sister has finally caught the bug! We spent the day around her dining table making Christmas cards. Mum was roped in too, though she’d much rather be attached to her knitting needles! Anyway, here are their efforts … some really nice cards, I think.

A card for Make it Monday #116 …

james card

Today I thought I'd share with you the card I made for my nephew for his birthday last week. He qualified as a teacher this summer hence the theme for his card. I made the blackboard from coffee stirrers  (I never leave a coffee shop without a few of them tut tut) and a rectangle of black card made to look ‘chalky’ with SU Whisper White ink.

I’d like to enter this card for Make it Monday which I just discovered via Sarah’s blog Sarah’s Little Snippets.

I love this card by MiM DT member Lisa.
