UKS weekly challenge

girls with curlsimage

Here is my page for this week’s challenge on UKS set by Maggie B. Maggie’s challenge was to use at least 3 colours from the colour scheme, scrap outdoor photos and to include a cluster of embellishments and triangles.

These photos were taken of Sophia a couple of summers ago – I just love her unruly curls! I have used the fab Gorgeous Grunge stamps from Stampin’ Up. So much easier and less messy than spraying mist.

Beat the Christmas Rush January 25th

Card Tally 5
1 jan

Good morning and welcome to the first Beat the Christmas Rush of 2014.

So what’s it all about? Our aim is to make up to five Christmas cards per month so that we have all our hand made cards done and dusted come November– if you link up 5 cards each month you’ll have at least 50 stashed away! So – join in our monthly linky … you’ll be glad you did! I’ll publish a new link up each month on the 25th and feature my favourite card from the previous month’s entries.

The small print … please only link up new cards. Up to 5 links allowed per person per month. Mention my blog in your post(s).  If you miss a month it doesn’t matter. Have fun.

UKS challenge Jan wk2

hup down hup

Here is the layout I did for last week’s challenge on UK Scrappers. I have scrapped some lovely photos of Leo and his granddad playing in the garden. I can just hear Leo laughing as I look at them – he is such a giggler!

The challenge was set by the The Scrap Apples who gave us a list of elements to choose from. My choices were …
- birds and flowers
- summer colours
- and a scraplift

I lifted this fab page by DeeMo which has been in my favourites file for a while. The-cross-Bearer

Thank you, Dee. Smile

Mary’s Tunis Cake

Tunis cke

I saw Mary Berry make a Tunis Cake on TV the other day and it brought back a memory of childhood Christmases. My dad loved the McVities’ Tunis cakes and we had one every year as a special treat. As I remember he always complained that the chocolate got thinner over the years but he enjoyed it none-the-less. More recently we have bought one from Sainsbury’s but it’s not the same. Anyway, when I saw Mary’s recipe I had to have a go. I’d suggest baking at a lower temp than the recipe says as mine’s a bit overcooked but it tastes just fine. By the way, I had to wrest the marzipan fruits from Michael – mum bought him a box for Christmas and he was very reluctant to give me the last three!
