CCW Christmas Countdown – 26 sleeps to go

I can’t believe we are at the penultimate day of November and tomorrow brings the end of our Christmas Countdown – I hope you’ve had as much fun as we have.

Today I have a decorated a calendar kit – available from CCW here. The kit comes complete with easy-to-follow instructions and stamps for making any month in any year. I coloured the background of each page with Distress Inks and stamped the calendar grids directly on to the page – I don’t mind a few smudges and missed bits – I think it adds to the charm of hand stamping. If you are more of a perfectionist than me then the instructions suggest stamping your calendar grids onto separate card before sticking it to the page.

I have added a photo of Sophia to each page as the calendar is a present for her mum (hope you haven’t read this Anna!) but you could just decorate each page without a photo if you prefer.CCW_Xmas_2210_signature

21 Nov Sue birthday book

Here we are on Day 21 of our Christmas Countdown at Creative Craft World. I’ve made this birthday book – perfect for a Christmas gift and pretty quick to make.

Each page has a calendar to write in family and friends’ birthdays and the facing page has a pocket to safely store cards until they are needed.

The book is made using two chipboard covers and a page for each month. I bound it with large a Bind-it-all wire, though a couple of book rings will do the job just as well. Each page is made of a piece of 12”x12” heavyweight double sided patterned paper cut to measure 8”x12”. Score at 8” and fold up to make the card pocket. Red double sided tape makes a good strong adhesion. The calendar sheets are stuck on the non-pocket side of each page.

If you would like printable copies of the calendar sheets please email me sue at suehr dot freeserve dot co dot uk (no spaces).

I have other printable calendar blanks here and here. Please do leave a comment if they are useful together with a link back here from your blog. Many thanks,

Scrapology’s November Scraplift Challenge

Here’s my page for the challenge this month on the sugar and spice Scrapology blog. We were asked to use a sketch and to make fabric flowers. I made the cream coloured rose with seam binding, following a super tutorial in the same blog and I also made a couple of the others using a running stitch and gather method.

Today’s project is a clock made from a Stamps Away Deluxe Clock Kit (available here from CCW). Everything comes in the kit, battery, clock working parts and 3 different shaped face plates for you to choose from. All you have to do is decorate. I chose a photograph taken on Sophia’s first day at school and wanted to make the clock look like a blackboard. I put the clock together first to check how much clearance there was under the hands and there’s enough room for you to add shallow embellishments such as buttons, chipboard numbers, etc. The clock mechanism is easy to put together even for a numpty like me who cross-threads anything! The diagram in the package is nice and simple to follow.Sue9thNov

Here’s my completed project. I’ve used a 50p easel from Ikea to finish the blackboard look, although there is a chipboard stand in the pack.
