WOYWW 186

Good morning and Happy Boxing Day. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I spent the most magical day at my sister’s with all the children and grandchildren.

So onto my workdesk … well there’s so little of interest on there today, just a pile of wrapping remnants waiting to be stored away for next year … so instead I am showing you my chair. It is adorned with a set of gorgeous cushions sent to me by the lovely Lou. Aren’t they great?

26.12.12 OK – if you fancy a break from all the festivities why not hop over to Julia’s website and have a snoop around some of the fab workdesks linked to What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday?

WOYWW? 185

Good morning! This time next week it’ll all be over bar the shouting, as my dad would have said. :o) He was a great one for sayings which have become part of our linga familia (I thought I made that up but it’s listed by Google). I keep thinking I’ll write them all down but it’s not really necessary as we use them all the time – he called snails odnidods and frogs wooingoes just as my sister, brother and I all do. When we were tiny and running around naked after a bath he called us Tinribs (which I only learned last week was a robot in Viz magazine).

How did I get onto that? You’re here to see my desk…19.12.12So what’s to see? A pile of cards on the right – the last to be written and posted, a beautiful card sent to me by a dear and clever friend, an almost completed layout with a gorgeous photo of Leo, using the next CCW scrap map and just at the top are my newly organised Stickles nesting nicely upside down in my shopping trolley. That’s it!

Happy Christmas WOYWWers. Do hop over to Julia’s blog for a snoop round some more workdesks – it’s fun and addictive. :o)

Sarah Hurley challenge #73

The theme for Sarah’s challenge this month is … Christmas … and I have this layout to enter.

it's beginningI have used the Littlegreen Crop December kit and photos of my sister, Marilyn, at a Christmas wreath making workshop we went to at Petworth House. We had a fabulous day and the wreaths look gorgeous on our front doors.

Make it Monday #120

Ahhh I nearly forgot it is Monday – 20 minutes to spare before it’s Tuesday here in the UK! Anyway here is a last minute Christmas card I did this afternoon that I’d like to enter for the MiM linky party this week.

door card

I printed a door I found on Google then added a wreath made from punched holly leaves and a bit of bling. I’ve run out of red brads so I coloured some white ones with a good old Sharpie pen. They are so useful.

The DT projects this week are all lovely but my favourite is this one by Meihsia

Pop to MiM to join on the fun.

ETA I've just discovered that the lovely Sandy has chosen my entry for last week's link up as her pick of the week. Thanks so much, Sandy. :o)

Christmas Baking

There’s not a lot of paper crafting happening here at the moment so I thought I’d share a little of what’s going on in the kitchen. I saw Lorraine Pascale make some mincemeat stars in her programme Baking Made Easy – I love her cooking, I do not, however, love mincemeat so I baked a dozen today using some ginger jam made for me by Stacey, Beth’s mum. Lorraine does usually use ready made puff pastry, though she didn’t on this occasion – but I did!  They really were very easy and will make a great pudding with cream or warm with custard. If you want them as nibbles just make the squares smaller. I cut a rolled out piece of Tesco puff pastry into 6  squares measuring about 5” x 5” but you could easily make 12 – mine are giant sized!

Pinwheel Puffs

“Get in plenty of ready-made all-butter puff pastry ... In what parallel universe does anyone have time at Christmas to make puff pastry? … You can use it to make Lorraine Pascale’s easy mince pie stars. Simply cut out squares, spoon a little ready-made mincemeat in the middle, fold, glaze and bake.”

WOYWW 184

How the mighty fall! LOL Last week I was up with the lark and made numero uno at What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday – this week we overslept and even missed breakfast. We are staying in a hotel in Somerset for my birthday (yesterday). I haven’t unpacked my crafting bags yet, so here is my workdesk!

12.12.12 Please pop over to Julia’s blog and hop around a few workdesks – it’s addictive!

See you at my proper workdesk next week.

Make it Monday #119

all snuggled upNow all my Christmas cards are done, it’s been a real treat the last few days to get back to my first love in papercrafting, making  a scrapbook page. This scrumptious photo of Leo, my great-nephew, has been crying out to be scrapped. How cute is he? I’ve used the Littlegreen December kit for the page, which is quite simple and unembellished for me – is this a new trend in my scrapbooking style, I wonder?

I’d like to enter this into the MiM linky party. Pop over there to see some lovely projects. My favourite this week of the DT examples is this one by Rene.

WOYWW 183

Here I am, three weeks before Christmas and still making cards!

We have an idea at CCW to make 5 cards on the 25th of each month through 2013 so that, when November hits us in the face, as it generally does, we’ll have 50 cards, all done and dusted. Hmmm will I keep it up? Well, I fully intend to … at the moment.

Anyway it’s Wednesday and you are probably here snooping at my desk, so here it is …

05.12.12

… centre stage is the card I have just finished for baby Beth and on the work mat is a pile of penguins waiting to be put on the last of my cards … then I’m done … yay!

2TC35 Winter White Snowflakes

The challenge today at Twisted Tuesdays is to make a card that is mostly white and the twist is to include  snowflake or three. I’d like to enter this simple little card. I’ve been making them today for the ladies at our crop. I hope they aren’t peeping at my blog!

Make it Monday #118

I’m on the last leg of my card making now … some for the children. I’m using the Stampin’ Up owl punch to make penguins. I have glue all over my fingers but they are very cute and worth the fiddling. Hope you agree.

I am linking these to Make it Monday. Hop there to see lots of lovely projects. My favourite of the MiM design team projects this week is this card by Lisa M.

Sophia’s Fairy Wishes

When Marilyn and I were little girls we absolutely believed in fairies. There was an old oak tree in Windsor Great Park where our dad told us they lived and we visited it with gifts of feathers, flowers and anything else we thought a fairy would like.  I loved Brussels sprouts because my dad said they were fairies’ cabbages. There was so much excitement in our house if a fairy ring of mushrooms appeared on the lawn over night.

I saw the idea for a jar of ‘wishes’ from Jennifer’s Jumbles blog and adapted it a bit. I painted Stickles icicles on an Ikea jar and was surprised to find they dried perfectly. The Mistletoe fairy is made by Joy of Joyous Cards, one of my favourite Ebay sellers. The jar is full of ideas for an activity for Sophia to do each day until Christmas. I have made them in two colours – one for school day activities and the other for activities more suited to weekends or holidays. I hope she likes it.
