UKS weekly challenge August wk3

This week’s challenge at UKS, set by The Ruby Snippers, was to scrap a celebration, to use the colour black and to feature something that you got for free. My page ticks all of those boxes. The photograph is of a wedding in the Macey family and the journalling reads,

An unidentified ancestor of mum’s from the Macey family. Photo sent from Canada.

My grandmother’s sister, Rose, emigrated to Canada and this photograph was sent to my nephew, Barney, who is tracing his family tree. No-one is sure who she is. From her style of her dress I would guess the wedding took place around the 1920s. She does bear some resemblance to my Nan, photographed here holding me.

The frame I have used for the photo was made from the card an M&S gift card came in – thank you, Jan. :o)

Scrapology Challenge – R is for Ribbon

There’s a super sketch for this month’s scraplift challenge at Scrapology. Here’s what I did with it. The button sewing (all 18 of them!) was a labour of love, but I would never get away with gluing on a button – my UKS team would give me what for! :o)

Thanks for visiting,

Sue x

PS You can see the detail better in my gallery on UKS.

CCW Card Challenge – for a child

Those sixes come round quickly! There’s a card challenge at Creative Craft World on the 6th, 16th and 26th of every month – today’s challenge is to make a card for a child. I grabbed the opportunity to get started with my Christmas cards and made two, for my great nieces. Pop over to the CCW blog to find out details for entering the challenge, which is sponsored by Stitchy Bear.

Shimelle’s Starting Point Challenge

My second page for Shimelle’s Online Scrapbooking Weekend. We were asked to start with this base layout and then to finish the page as we chose.

scrapbooking challenge - starting point

I’ve used Bo Bunny Flower Child Aquarius and My Mind’s Eye 29th Street Market Striped Sail and Orange Truck papers and the Jet Set travel kit from The Make and Create Shop. I printed off a street map of Washington from the internet.

Purple Pumpkin Sketch Challenge

I’m not going to miss the deadline this month! Here is my page for the challenge at Purple Pumpkin – super early! (The sketch is on my sidebar BTW).

I’m loathe to point you in their direction LOL as I don't want the next sale to sell out before I get there … but you should have a look, the buttons are just delish and postage from Australia is very reasonable.

Scrapping at TEM

Jan and I spent a chatty day scrapping at The Eternal Maker in Chichester – home of the Button Company and heaven for a button-addict like me, but not a lot of fun for a button-phobic like poor Jan.

Here are the two pages I did – the first is for the weekly challenge at UK Scrappers.

Thanks for visiting,
